School & Classroom Volunteers

The Board of Trustees recognizes that volunteer assistance in schools can enrich the educational program, increase supervision of students, and contribute to school safety while strengthening the schools' relationships with the community. Thank you for sharing your valuable time to support the students and schools of Oakley. Your efforts are greatly appreciated! There are many ways family/community members can participate with their child’s school:

Spectator:
Spectators are attendees at events open to the public.

Guests/Service Volunteer:
Guests and service volunteers are invited participants to school, service, and similar activities. Guests and service volunteers do not directly chaperone or work with students and attend under the supervision of staff.

Classroom Volunteer/Volunteer Coach/Chaperone:
Classroom volunteers, volunteer coaches and chaperones assist certificated personnel in the performance of their duties, including in the supervision of students and in the performance of instructional tasks which, in the judgment of the certificated personnel to whom the volunteer is assigned, may be performed by a person not licensed as a classroom teacher. They may provide volunteer assistance in the classroom, at dances/events, and on field trips with the approval, and under the direct supervision, of the teacher and/or administrator. This may include nonteaching/noninstructional work with students and supervision during nutritional periods as detailed in Ed Code (Education Codes 35021, 44814, 44815, 45344, 45349, 51101).

Those seeking to be a Classroom Volunteer/Volunteer Coach/Chaperone will need to complete and submit the following:

  1. Complete a Volunteer Application (Español) and  Code of Conduct Form (Español)

  2. Submit a photocopy of a Driver's License or Identification Card

  3. Complete Fingerprint Clearance and Return a Signed Request for Live Scan Service Form
(no cost to volunteers ONLY when using OUESD's District Office)

  4. All above completed documents can be e-mailed to volunteers@ouesd.k12.ca.us or returned
    to the District Office.

To schedule a fingerprint appointment, please call 925-625-0700 ext. 4051. You may also connect to the Personnel/Human Resources line. If there's no answer, leave a voicemail, and we'll return your call.
